Klimt's early works basically adopted the traditional method of expression, and his artistic style was deeply influenced by the Dutch symbolist painter Jan Toorop, Swiss symbolist painter Ferdinand Hodler and British Aubrey Beardsley and others. It also absorbed the nutrition of Byzantine Mosaic and the decorative art of Eastern European peoples, making his paintings have "mosaic style". He will use feathers, metal, glass, gems and other materials to form his work with flat decorative patterns.

Another feature of the painting is that most of the main characters in the painting are women and symbolic decorative patterns, and the themes are "love", "sex", "life" and "death".
The woman in the painting is elegant and sexy, the body form is as free as water, and the gorgeous decoration will set off them more sexy and mysterious.
The artist once wrote in the letter: " I have never painted a face. I lack less interest in treating myself as the subject of painting than drawing others, and women are the most important... I have nothing special, just a painter who paints day after day, day and night. Anyone who wants to know me better... should come cautiously with my paintings.”
Klimt emphasizes personal aesthetic taste, expressions of emotions, and imaginative creation. His works have not only the philosophical content of symbolist painting, but also have Oriental interest. The potential mysticism, strong sense of plane and rich decorative effect in the painting have had a huge and profound impact on the painting art and poster design.
